Integrating Data from Multiple Data Systems Streamlining data use for health system decision making Now that stakeholders see the benefits of digital health data systems there is an increasing proliferation of large scale health data systems However the consequence is that countries are confronted with multiple siloed routine data systems National health information systems are often separate from data systems for disease specific programs results based financing and health workforce management Separately they generate huge amounts of data that could be more powerful if analyzed together While benefits of data integration are often discussed architectural and technical challenges inhibit operationalization Currently there is a vast amount of data for use by different programs The next challenge is to improve the use of data between programs for health systems strengthening This session will present case studies on the integration of data systems from different angles to demonstrate what is the potential for centralizing data how it can be done and what are the challenges along the way Presented by Leona Rosenblum Deputy Director Applied Technology Center John Snow Inc
