dc.description.abstractDue to the importance of laboratory test results for decision making in the health sector laboratory information systems LIS are a critical component of a national health information systems architecture Many low and middle income countries LMIC look to open source solutions for LIS This panel will explore a complementary suite of open source LIS that are commonly implemented across LMIC describing the types of laboratories and use cases each of these LIS serve In addition one presentation will focus on a new OpenHIE LIS Community of Practice that is bringing these experts and technologies together to share knowledge standards best practices and collaborate on core technologies that can be utilized within and across LIS products The panel presentations will emphasize lessons learned about which products are suitable for which use cases based on real world experience in configuring and implementing these high impact products in a variety of laboratory settings Speakers include Steven Macharia Director IntelliSOFT Consulting LimitedJan Flowers Director of Global Health Informatics University of WashingtonCasey Iiams Hauser Informatics Implementation Specialist University of Washington I TECH
